Innocence is a series of photograms (darkroom contact prints) inspired by the distinctive shapes and colors of the desert plants that typically form under challenging conditions. Despite heat and scarcity of resources, these fragile ecosystems have been managing to exist in a relatively balanced state until recently. With changing climate, we witness new extreme opposites: drought after a super bloom with its bursts of color, snow storms after a scorching heat. The time spent at various West Coast parks allowed me to bring sketches and plant remains back to the darkroom and to reflect on this experience in layered compositions.
